It's all change for the Proto in 2017, not content to rest on their laurels Never Summer has taken a long hard look at their best selling board and have introduced a whole raft of changes and in doing so have created a second generation Proto that takes the very best of the original boards character but brings it bang up to date.Aimed at experienced riders who are looking for a twin all mountain board, the versatile but responsive Proto2 ticks all the boxes for anyone that doesn't want to be held back no matter what terrain or what type of riding they want to do.
For 2017 the Proto2 utilises the more aggressive Ripsaw Rocker Camber profile, this introduces more defined camber zones under the feet which step up both edge hold and pop to another level all without compromising the versatility of the Original Rocker Camber shape.Internally as you would expect with any Never Summer board, the Proto 2 utilises some of the very best material available. Heading this up is the high end Proto HD core. This lightweight genetically modified Poplar/ Birch core delivers the perfect balance of pop and power with bullet proof durability. This is then wrapped with pre impregnated pre tensioned Bi-Lite fibreglass structural layers reinforced with an additional carbon fibre matrix, carbon fibre braces positioned under the binding inserts and carbon stringers running from the contact points to the insert pack.
This construction delivers totally stunning performance that ensures no matter how hard or fast you ride, you'll always feel stable and secure. However, don't go thinking that this is a flat out or nothing kind of board, thanks to the addition of RDS 2 Dampening System, the elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers and the Harmonic Tip and Tail Dampeners to help smooth out the ride, the Proto 2 is a board that you can cruise around on those days where you really just want to take it a bit easier. Finally to ensure that the Proto 2 has the speed to match its performance Never Summer fit it with a super fast sintered XT 5501 base.
